At Walt Disney World Resort, Guests can often expect to experience world-class attractions that are at times very exciting while still being filled with stunning detail. Whether you’re at Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Animal Kingdom or Disney’s Hollywood Studios, there will be a ride for everyone. But did you know that Disney Springs has one of the most thrilling attractions yet? Well, this weekend things got a little crazier than expected.
Aerophile – The world’s leading hot air balloon ride is located at Disney Springs, and is a stunning hot air balloon that lifts guests into the air so they can not only get a great view of the shopping and dining district, but Walt Disney World Resort as a whole. The attraction is located on the west side of Disney Springs and costs $25.00 per adult and $20.00 per child. The route is used on a first-come, first-served basis.
On the Disney World website, the following is noted about the ball:
Take to the skies on an 8-minute captive adventure in the world’s largest hand-painted helium balloon. Custom-built for Disney by Paris-based company Aérophile SA, the Aéro30 is filled with 210,000 cubic feet of helium and soars to heights of up to 400 feet. The balloon basket accommodates 29 people plus a qualified Aerophilic pilot. Each flight offers great panoramic views up to 10 miles on a clear day, so don’t forget those cameras!
Interestingly, the site also notes: “The balloon will not fly during a storm or if winds exceed 22 mph”, however, over the past weekend it appears there has been a difference in strength and speed the wind.
Cecelia Steidinger (@csteidinger) took to TikTok to post a video of the Aerophile taking off – The world leader in balloon flight. As you can see in the video, there are apparently guests on board the hot air balloon as it rises. As the balloon goes up things start to shake a bit and we can see the wind pulling it in different directions with great force. We can also hear a scream in the video as the ball begins to move uncontrollably.
The #aerophilic #disneysprings balloon went up this morning and the winds were decidedly too fast. #disneyparks #waltdisneyworld #disney #crazy #crazywind #orlando
In the TikTok, Steidinger noted that the winds were “definitely too fast.” The day before, Orlando saw a storm with winds of 60 mph. Those winds died down on Saturday, however, it was still quite a windy day, as we can see in the video above. There were no reports of any injuries during this hot air balloon ride, and it seems likely that the cast member operating the attraction would have brought it back to earth in the safest way possible. after the winds posed a hazard.
