“A pin in the ball” supply constraints for Wi-Fi 6E, according to Dell’Oro Group

REDWOOD CITY, CA., February 3, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — According to a recently released report by Dell’Oro Group, the trusted source of market intelligence for the telecommunications, networking and data center industries, supply constraints will be a “pin in the ball for Wi-Fi 6E, as enterprise-class Wi-Fi 7 wireless LAN will be available in 2023.

“Although the manufacturers launched the Wi-Fi 6E products in mid-2021, the products are not available or they are in very limited quantities. Supply constraints have prompted manufacturers to focus on the availability of models popular by redesigning these models with components that are more readily available,” said Tam Dell‘Oro, Founder, CEO and Wireless LAN Analyst. “Our interviews with system integrators reveal that users are asking for Wi-Fi 6, not 6E. Therefore, if companies need to prioritize their production, Wi-Fi 6 will be the priority. Wi-Fi shipments in the second half of the year 2021 off China, were significantly limited due to supply constraints. Ecosystem players don’t see the constraints easing until late 2022. With Wi-Fi 7 products shipping as early as 2023, we expect users to bypass 6E,” Dell’Oro added.

“In addition to the supply constraints that are holding back the rate of adoption of Wi-Fi 6E, we have learned that complying with regulations to operate in the 6 GHz spectrum slows down the deployment process. Compliance processes still need to be standardized and easy to implement,” says Dell’Oro.
